Whitehall Township will hold its annual recycling drive, document shredding and VIN etching event this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event will be held at the public works building at the municipal complex, 3219 MacArthur Road.
The recycling drive is open to township residents.
This year, electronics, bikes and eyeglasses may be recycled.
Electronic items accepted free of charge include desktop and laptop computers; keyboards and mice; printers and fax machines; cables and cords; telephones and cellphones; calculators and adding machines; UPS battery backups and laptop batteries; toner and ink cartridges; audio visual equipment; filing cabines; DVD players and VCRs; gaming systems; stereos and speakers; microwaves and small appliances; metal items; and exercise equipment.
Some items can be recycled for a fee. Cash or check only will be accepted. Make checks payable to "Responsible Recycling Services."
Proof of residency is required.
For shredding, residents may bring a maximum of 10 boxes of material.
Residents may stay to witness shredding.
Also, the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud Task Force, along with township police, will conduct VIN etching.
Task force members will engrave a vehicle's VIN on all windows and the sunroof of a vehicle free of charge.
In addition, residents may drop off nonperishable food items for the Whitehall Township Food Bank.
Donations are always accepted at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 3900 Mechanicsville Road.
