Ron Sterner has announced that he will seek a seat on the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners.
A lifelong resident of the township, he attended Whitehall High School and graduated from the Commercial Traders Institute of Chicago.
He was employed at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School as an assistant building engineer. He is retired.
Sterner is a past president of the Fullerton Fire Company, where he served for 25 years; a previous captain of the Whitehall Fire Police; vice president of Four County Firearms Association; and a former member of the Lehigh Labor Council.
The major issues of his campaign include reliable provision of emergency services, as he says volunteers are the community's greatest asset; maintenance and reasonable development of infrastructure, roads and utilities; containment of municipal costs and taxes; preservation and expansion of recreation and parks; and accessibility and accountability of township officials and employees.
"I will address all the issues with greater candor, honesty and communication and responsiveness to the citizens," Sterner said. "I pledge to the people of Whitehall Township that they and their concerns are my priority."
