Beca's Dauphin wins state silver

Andrew Dauphin, Bethlehem Catholic HS and BATVS student, recently was awarded a silver medal in the Skills USA State Championships in Hershey. H ecompeted in the electrical construction wiring category.

Three local residents accepted at LVC

Lebanon Valley College has accepted Emma Krentler, Da'Ron Strickland and Connor Wagner, all of of Bethlehem, or admission at "The Valley" / Lebanon Valley College, Annville.

Shields on CUMI program

Bethlehem resident Lydia Shields spent spring break serving others through James Madison University's alternative spring break program. The junior biology major traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to volunteer with Committee for Upliftment of Mentally Ill (CUMI).

The student-led journeys took place from March 7 to 14. Each trip focused on a social issue, such as homelessness, resettlement, environmentalism or community wellness, in a specific region.

Seaborn inducted into honor society

Alicia Seaborn of Bethlehem, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Metro campus, Teaneck, N.J., has been inducted into the school's Phi Omega Epsilon senior honor society for the fall 2014 semester. She completing at least 90 earned credits, of which the last 58 must have been taken at the university, toward an undergraduate degree with a CGPR of 3.50.

Martocci Book Signing May 3

Laura Martocci, a Bethlehem High School graduate, will be signing copies of her book, Bullying:The Social Destruction of Self, at 3 p.m. May 3 at the Promenade Shops. She is a 1984 Lafayette College graduate.

Two inducted into KU honor societies

Carla Majczan, of Bethlehem, has been inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Lambda national honor society for graduate students at Kutztown University.

In order to be considered for membership, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours as a degree-seeking student in a graduate program, a grade point average placing the student in the top 35 percent of campus graduate students and a record of leadership and service to graduate students or graduate student organizations.

Tyler Giovarelli, of Bethlehem, was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Kutztown University. The society is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
