LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Mary Carmela Valenti

Mary Carmela Valenti was received into eternal life April 20, 2015.

Born Sept. 8, 1919, she was the fourth of eight children born to Vincent and Rose (Furlano) Grosso of South Philadelphia.

She and her "honey" Al shared 67 years of marriage until his death in 2007.

She was a woman of deep devotion and abiding faith, especially to the Holy Eucharist and rosary, which began and ended each of her days since she was 10 years old.

A good daughter, who cared for her parents, she was a good sister who kept family traditions alive for siblings to the fourth generation, a good mother who taught her children generosity and hospitality are gifts from the heart that reflect joy, a good GMom and GGMom, who everyday held her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in prayer for their safety, success and happiness.

She was a woman who practiced random acts of kindness before it had a name, and a woman who successfully balanced work and family 70 years before it was a social topic.

She was a woman who aged gracefully, and full of grace finding purpose for life well into her 90s.

Her survivors include a son Dr. Ronald J. Valenti of Havre de Grace Md., daughter and son-in-law Dr. Rita Valenti and the Right Rev. Canon Dr. Michael Piovane of Allentown, with whom she shared a home; grandchildren Monica and husband Tim Bloom of N.Y., Dr. Matthew Valenti and wife Jeanne Collins of New York and Christina and husband Jason Chmura of Michigan; great-grandchildren Tinsley, Nathan and Luke; sister Theresa Carrozza, sister-in-law Kay Sadowy and brothers-in-law Anthony Cavallaro and Joseph Villante; former daughter-in-law Mary Ulle Valenti; cousins Mildred, Catherine and Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
