Germansville man killed in Albany Township crash

A 21-year-old Germansville man was killed when the car he was driving struck a tree at 2:27 a.m. April 25 on Route 143, Albany Township, Berks County.

Trooper David Beohm, public information officer with Troop L, Reading, said Alex David Huber, of 6743 Saegersville Road, was driving a 1997 BMW 540i north on Route 143, just north of Old Philly Pike, when he apparently failed to negotiate a right curve while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Police say Huber's car crossed the double yellow center lines, spun clockwise through the curve, continued north and off the west side of the roadway, before hitting a tree with its left rear.

Police say Huber, who was not wearing his seat belt, sustained fatal injuries.
