The Pennsylvania Jazz Collective will present the Fourth Annual Jazz Awards at 7 p.m. April 29, Foy Concert Hall, Moravian College, Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus, Main and Church Streets, Bethlehem.
Featured as part of the awards program is "Pa. Jazz Idol."
The Artist of the Year award recipient is Gary Rissmiller. The graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, has performed with a "who's who" of jazz musicians including Phil Woods, Randy Brecker and Bob Dorough.
Rissmiller is jazz drum professor at Moravian College and Muhlenberg Colleges. Past recipients have included Nelson Hill, Tom Kozic and Craig Kastelnik.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is jazz pianist Dave Roper.
A new award for Outstanding School Band Program will be presented to Carole Lutte, Director of the Easton High School Jazz Band.
The Sponsor Recognition Award will be presented to Jim Richie, owner, the Bookstore Speakeasy, Bethlehem, for support of the Pennsylvania Jazz Collective annual November jazz series.
The Local Jazz Venue Award recipient is the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. Last year's recipient was the Lafayette Bar, Easton.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted. Attendees are encouraged to become supporting members of the Pennsylvania Jazz Collective. CDs and T-shirts will be available for sale.
Proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania Jazz Collective Scholarship Fund.
