It hasn't happened often over the past couple of years, but the Parkland girls lacrosse team was playing in a game after losing two of the previous ones.

With close losses coming to new rival Southern Lehigh and out of conference foe Spring-Ford over the weekend, the Trojans needed some momentum heading into the last two weeks of the regular season. They got that and more Tuesday night under the lights on senior night at the Orefield Middle School field.

As seven seniors were honored before the start of the game, two members of that class, two of the most decorated in program history, once again shined for their team.

Sophie Castillo and Mackenzie Galli, who will both be playing collegiately at the Division I level, have certainly left their mark on their teammates, coaches and the league.

Castillo tallied four goals and an assist after being blanketed by defenders in each of the last two games, and Galli added three goals and four assists while working her way back from an injury that forced her to miss some time, as Parkland took down Liberty 21-1.

"It feels awesome," said Castillo of winning on senior night. "It's a good game for us to have with a score like this and for all of the seniors to get out there and play and new people getting on the scoresheet.

"I think we needed a big win tonight because of the last two games. We put our heads down before the games were even finished. So I think we needed a good confidence booster, and hopefully we'll get our heads up now moving forward."

Galli opened the scoring within the first minute of action with a shot that seemed to have some pent up frustration from those two previous losses behind it, and Parkland (12-2) never looked back.

The Trojans outshot the Hurricanes 30-3 over the course of the game, while not allowing a shot in the second half.

Cathleen Gaffney (three goals), Ana Emrick (two goals), Lexi Rice (two goals), Shannon Bushinsky (two goals), Brooke Cipolla, Becca Close, Lexi Rompilla and Camryn Barnett all found the back of the net. Junior defender Sage Barnett also got into the action, recording her first goal of the season for the Trojans. Abby Pope contributed two assists.

It was a welcome sight for Parkland with three more games in three days to finish the week. The Trojans will play conference foes Nazareth and Central Catholic, and end the week with a trip to North Penn on Friday.

"We just enjoy playing," said Castillo of the busy schedule. "It was nice for us to get some rest tonight and get a lot of girls some playing time.
