Nitschmann MS: United Way grant

Nitschmann Industrial Arts students have secured a $600 grant from the United Way Teen Works program (visit www.unitedwayglv.org/Partners/TeenWorks.aspx).

Students, under the direction of Evan Kocon, along with the city parks dept., are currently constructing benches to be installed at the Bethlehem Rose Garden near the Workers Memorial sculpture. The work will be completed in time for the annual Workers Memorial Ceremony at 1 p.m. April 26.

The ceremony, open to the public, recognizes any worker from the greater Lehigh Valley Area who was killed while in the line of duty/on the job. Volunteer name readers are needed. To add a name to the list, contact Lehigh Valley Workers Memorial, c/o Mike Wallery, 2779 Hill Drive, Bath, PA 18014.

There is a scholarship fund for family members of those lost to a workplace accident. For a list of those remembered during the 2014 ceremony and scholarship applications, visit http://lehighvalleyclc.org/wm.htm.
