Crash investigation complete

Police announced April 2 they have finished the investigation into a violent one-car accident involving a blue Audi on Easton Avenue Dec. 26.

The 3:30 a.m. crash around a well-known sharp turn in the 1700 block resulted in severe injuries to a passenger. The operator lost control around the curve, struck the curb, sheered a utility pole, and went up an embankment, causing the Audi to roll over several times. The driver, 22-year-old Steven Michael Margeson, of Timberlane Drive in Easton, and the unidentified passernger were taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment. There were no fatalities.

Police said Margeson was intoxicated and, despite a posted limit of 35 miles per hour and flashing caution lights, had been driving in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Margeson is charged with numerous driving infractions and DUI and aggravated assault by vehicle while intoxicated.

Following three months of work, Police Chief Mark DiLuzio reiterates that, despite what is depicted on television, investigations take time and police have only a single chance to do it correctly.

he also reminds residents to slow down and not drink and drive.
