James A. Hammer, 65, of Emmaus, died April 2, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Gunns) Hammer for 41 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Rose M. (Shankweiler) Hammer.
He was a Vietnam era Army veteran.
He was a postal clerk for the Lehigh Valley Post Office for 31 years until retiring.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lauren and her companion Michael Scott; a son, Michael and his partner Mike Obreiter; a granddaughter, Jaidyn Pudliner; a brother, John J. and his wife Diane; two sisters, Judith Zeisloft and Jaqueline and her husband Jim Russell; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Box 318, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
