FALCON INSIDER April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has issued a safety message for all those under the age of 21.

Underage drinking and driving both carry serious consequences for those under 21. Pennsylvania's Zero Tolerance Law includes fines, license suspensions and even jail time for minors who drive impaired, consume, possess or transport alcohol, or lie about age to purchase alcohol.

For example, those under 21 who are convicted of driving under the influence with a .02 blood alcohol content, or greater, face severe penalties, including a 12-to-18-month license suspension, 48 hours to six months in jail and fines from $500 to $5,000.

Adults who are convicted of knowingly and intentionally supplying minors with alcohol are also subject to fines and jail. More information about the Zero Tolerance Law is available at JustDrivePA.com.

Current junior students interested in the Lehigh or DeSales High School Scholar Program or the Moravian College Dean's Scholars Program should submit their names to the school counseling office by noon April 15.

Due to Lehigh University's and Moravian College's deadline for submission which is May 1, the guidance office's due dates were shortened this year. A sign-up sheet is available at the school counseling office. No names will be accepted after this date and time.

Students from German classes levels one through four will travel to Penn State University April 16 to participate in German Day 2015. Students will participate in events ranging from a spelling bee to a film competition. Viel Glück (good luck)!
