The Whitehall boys volleyball team was in a couple of large holes within the first two games last Thursday night. The Zephyrs were behind by double digits for a part of both games, and Parkland had a big size advantage.

It looked as if the Trojans were going to breeze to a couple of easy wins in the opening games, and another 3-0 set win, but a youthful Whitehall team did not back down and kept fighting until the end.

Parkland, however, used its length, and the sizeable leads it held to take down Whitehall 3-0 by scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-19 at Whitehall High School.

"I think we played well considering we were on the road against a Whitehall team who was fresh off a five-set loss to Nazareth so we knew they'd be prepared," said head coach Scott Trumbauer. "We held large leads in the first two sets but Whitehall dug back into the match both times."

The Zephyrs never gave up when they were down big, and fought back to keep the score close and in striking distance each game. It showed that the youth had some energy and wouldn't let a deficit get to them.

The third set was back and forth until the Trojans pushed away at the end to grab the win. The win pushes Parkland to 3-0, undefeated on the year.

"We need to focus on playing at a high pace and level for entire matches," said Trumbauer. "We tend to lose focus from time to time which causes us to work harder at the end of each set which is like to see us improve on."

Bryce Galloway led the way with eight kills and eight digs while Sean Lewis added nine kills, seven digs, one ace and two blocks. Jake Heyer tallied seven kills, three blocks and chipped in rive digs.

The Trojans remained unbeaten with a victory over Easton on Tuesday night. Next up is a clash at home against another undefeated team, Liberty Thursday night.
