Joan L. Fister, 81, of Allentown, died March 27, 2015, in Blough Health Care, Bethlehem.
She was the widow of Dr. Frederick D. Fister.
Born in Kutztown, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Epting.
She attended the Allentown School of Nursing.
Upon graduation in 1954, she worked at the former Allentown Hospital in the communicable disease isolation unit helping with the polio epidemic. In 1974, she began working in the burn center at Lehigh Valley Hospital until retiring in 1995.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown.
She loved her animals, gardening and the outdoors. Her survivors include sons Aaron Snyder and companion, Kimberley Martrich, of Allentown, Brion Snyder and wife, Teri, of Triangle, Va., brother Donald Epting and wife, Mary, of Walnutport; granddaughter Tiffany; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Machelle Snyder, and a brother Kenneth Epting.
