Hunsberger to make run for re-election

Whitehall Township Commissioner Clair Hunsberger, active in township government and community programs for more than five decades, has announced he is seeking a fifth term in office.

At 83, Hunsberger said he believes he still has much to contribute to the township and its residents.

Hunsberger served on the township's Home Rule Commission in 1976, helping the commission play a major role in establishing the home rule government practiced in Whitehall today.

Hunsberger said he is proud to be part of the group that brought home rule government to the township.

Looking back at the years he has served as a commissioner, he said the township has made significant gains, including the construction of a modern public works building, recreation upgrades, solid road system, a first-class fire department and equipment, and a professional police department.

He was actively involved many years ago in establishing the Fullerton-West Catasauqua Ambulance Corps. Hunsberger was involved in youth athletic programs at the Fullerton Playground as well.

Hunsberger continues participating in veterans programs. He currently serves as commander of the American Legion Post 367, Fullerton.

Four of the seven seats on the board of commissioners will appear on the May primary ballot.
