Dr. Edward M. Torbey, DDS, 79, of Slatington, died March 25, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and wife Grace M. (German) Torbey were married for 53 years on June 17, 2014.

Born March 9, 1936, in Allentown, he was the son of Anna K. (Sokol) Torbey of Allentown and the late Michael Torbey.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during a peacetime era.

A 1954 graduate of the former Slatington High School, he was a member of the Iron Men basketball team.

He then attended Muhlenberg College and graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry.

He owned and operated a general dentistry practice in Slatington since 1963.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Slatington.

In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by children, Sherri L. Torbey of Slatington, Michele Torbey Serniak and her husband, Joseph, of Andreas, and Dr. Gary E. Torbey of Massena, N.Y.; sister Patricia Greene of Whitehall; and grandchildren Arienne and Gavin.
