Lehigh University and the South Side Task Force will hold the annual South Side Cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon April 11. Lehigh University students and staff will join teams from the Boys' and Girls' Club, Holy Infancy School, Broughal Middle School, Donegan Elementary School, Sands-Bethlehem Resorts employees, block watches and residents for the event.
Those wishing to volunteer will meet at Lehigh's Campus Square, Morton and New streets, for assignments. Lehigh will provide transportation to assignments as needed.
Bags and gloves will be available. Children should be accompanied by adults. Bethlehem Police and Lehigh University Police will be on patrol. City streets department staff will pick up the bags left on corners in the neighborhoods.
The sixth annual Historic District Cleanup Day, sponsored by National Penn Bank, will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. April 11. Volunteers (under age 16 should be accompanied by an adult) are needed to help pick up litter, clean out planters and plant new flowers for spring.
