Patriots tennis tops PME

Despite some line-up changes for Freedom High School's tennis team due to a week-long band trip, the Patriots were able to overcome Pocono Mountain East 4-3 last Thursday.

Freedom senior, Andrew Sinai, remained at number one singles and defeated Steve Price 6-1, 6-0, but freshman, Aidan Bodeo-Lomicky, moved up to number two singles from number three, defeating Zyang Lin 6-2, 6-0, and junior, Ronak Desai, moved up to number three singles from two doubles, defeating Tristan Boheim 6-2, 6-2.

Desai said, "Singles is definitely different. You need a lot more endurance. In the beginning it was tough until I got the hang of it."

Desai's partner in doubles is Jack Fried.

"It's great with Jack. We both have something different to offer, and we make a great team. His serve is one of the best things about his playing style, and he's a lefty, so between his forehand and my forehand we make a solid team," Desai said.

The Patriots lost at number one doubles 4-8 where Adam Li and Joel Veneracion were defeated by Jordan Kubinski and Kyle McKeown 4-8, and at number two doubles where Josh Christiansen and Sandeep Singh were defeated by Dan Christenson and J.P. Balas 0-6, 0-6.

Freedom came back at number three doubles to defeat the Cardinals as Matt Connors and Jon Fiorentino won their match against Jacob Grassi and Jon Marin 6-0, 6-0.

At number four doubles, Freedom's Mike Buchner and R.J. Judge lost to Richard Trott and Gabe Torchia 1-6, 3-6.
