Bach Choir, LU Philharmonic, choruses, soloists at Zoellner

The Lehigh University Philharmonic Orchestra and The Bach Choir of Bethlehem present "What Passion Cannot Music Raise," featuring works by Stravinsky, Beethoven and Handel with soloists Laura Heimes, soprano, and Benjamin Butterfield, tenor, 8 p.m. April 10, 11, Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University, Bethlehem.

"The orchestra is delighted to be collaborating with The Bach Choir, as well as the Chancel Choir from First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem and the Cathedral Choir from Cathedral Church of the Nativity, for a very exciting community program," said Lehigh University Philharmonic Orchestra director Eugene Albulescu.

"I will conduct Stravinsky's 'Symphony of Psalms' and perform and condu"ct Beethoven's 'Choral Fantasy for Piano, Choir and Orchestra,'" Albulescu said.

"Bach Choir artistic director and conductor Greg Funfgeld conducts Handel's 'Ode to St. Cecilia Day' (Mozart arrangement)," said Albulescu.

"The Bach Choir is delighted to collaborate with Eugene Albulescu and the LU Philharmonic in this exhilarating program of choral masterpieces from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries," said Funfgeld.

"Stravinsky's 'Symphony of Psalms' is a brilliantly-colored setting of Psalm texts for chorus, large wind and brass ensemble, celli, pianos and harp," Funfgeld said.

"'Ode to Saint Cecilia' is Handel's evocative setting of John Dryden's poem in praise of Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians," said Funfgeld.
