Upper Macungie Police Beat

Police seek

hit-and-run driver

Upper Macungie Township police are investigating a hit and run that occurred around 11:52 a.m. March 25, along Weilers Road and Route 100.

Police say a newer model lime or neon green Mitsubishi sedan struck another vehicle and the driver then fled the scene.

The Mitsubishi might be missing its front bumper as a result of the accident.

The driver is described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, standing about 6 feet tall with a stocky build.

Anyone with information about this crash or the driver is asked to call 484-661-5911 or 610-437-5252.

Residents report

IRS scam

Police say they have received seven calls from residents in the last two weeks saying they received phone calls from someone identifying himself as an IRS agent.

The person claiming to be the agent tells the resident he or she owes money and if it is not paid he or she will be arrested.

This is a scam, the IRS does not call residents by phone and demand payment, police say.

Anyone receiving a similar call is urged not to give the caller money or information.
