Rosemary A. Kurtz
Rosemary A. "Romy" Kurtz, 74 of Whitehall, died peacefully March 29, 2015, in her home.
She and her husband James D. Kurtz were married Dec. 28, 1963, in St John's Lutheran Church, Allentown.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Novak) Zakos.
A 1958 graduate of Allentown High School, she was vice president of Alpha Beta Tau Sorority.
Before retiring, she was employed for 11 years at the information desk of Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Prior to that, she worked at Lincoln Technical Institute, and was a secretary for 17 years at the former United Advertising Corp. until the birth of her son.
She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Allentown, serving on many committees, teaching Sunday School for more than 30 years and was chairperson of Christian Education.
A volunteer at the Allentown Food Bank, she was a former Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop 63, and a majority inspector at her oting district in Fullerton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Kevin and his wife, Cynthia, of Whitehall; granddaughter Caitlynn; brother Robert Zakos and his wife, Beverly, of Catasauqua: a niece and nephews.
Her services, officiated by Pastors Richard H. Stough and George Grubb, will be 10 a.m. April 2, in St John's Lutheran Church, 37 S. 5th St. Allentown.
Viewing will be 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday in the church. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
