Police arrested 28-year-old Jonathan Reade of Stonington Road after he was allegedly observed shioplifting at the West Union Boulevard Giant supermarket.

Police said that around 6 p.m. March 22, Reade was arrested for stealing unspecified items and eventually resisted and ran off.

While searching for him police said they found several packets of suspected heroin.

Reade is charged with retail theft, resisting arrest, escaping and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.
