Charles V. Foltz

Charles V. Foltz, PhD., 80, of Macungie, formerly of Bristol, died March 8, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Judith (Drenguba) Foltz were married 52 years last Aug. 4.

Born Jan. 5, 1935, in Bristol, he was the son of the late William C. and Nellie E. (Vandegrift) Foltz.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army during a peacetime era.

He was a professor of general biology and dean of education at Rhode Island College for 30 years before retiring in 1998.In 1993, he developed the freshman biology lab manual, still in use today.

Prior to that, he taught biology at Willingboro, High School in New Jersey for three years and Springfield High School for three years.

He earned a Doctorate of Education from Boston College.

He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Macungie.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters, Nancy J. Hollis of Clemmons, N.C., Betsy L. Dobbs and her husband, Marc, of Orefield; grandchildren Daniel and Joan Hollis, and Mitchell and Benjamin Dobbs.

He was predeceased by a brother, William H.
