Catherine L. Kistler

Catherine L. "Cass" Kistler, 90, of Kempton, died March 17, 2015, in Laurel Living Center, Hamburg.

Her husband, N. David "Dave" Kistler, died in 1997.

Born in Albany Township, she was a daughter of the late Floyd W. and Dorothy C. (Klingaman) Bond.

She and her husband were self-employed farmers in the Lehigh County area since their marriage in 1944.

Over the years, the operation grew, to become the largest vegetable producers for the Campbell Soup Company, Camden, N.J.

They added farming land in Berks, Schuylkill and Carbon counties.

In 1982, they received the Pa. State Tomato Grand Championship for class B machine harvesting.

Since the mid 1980s they switched to mainly growing grain and, after her husband's death, she finally retired in 2005.

She loved her family, farming and playing bingo.

Her survivors include granddaughter-in-law, Deanna L. DeLong, wife of Mark W. Yeich of Kempton; sister, Anna M. Blatt of Bernville; two great-grandchildren Christine and Colin DeLong, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Faye D. DeLong, grandson David K. DeLong and sister Mildred F. Nester.
