The documentary film, "Following The Ninth: In The Footsteps of Beethoven's Final Symphony," will be shown at 6:30 p.m. March 26, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown.
Kerry Candaele, director of the documentary film, will talk at 5:30 p.m. and Diane Wittry, music director-conductor of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, will talk at 6 p.m. The program is part of the "Wine Down Thursday" series.
"Following The Ninth" is a documentary film about the influence of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, his final symphony, on world events and individuals.
The film has been shown in more than 150 cities in the United States and Europe.
Of the film, Bill Moyers has said, "'Following The Ninth' is beautiful and powerful."
Don Reinhold, executive director of the Wichita Symphony, called the film "a very worthy project."
Dean Corey, executive director of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, said, "Kerry Candaele's 'Following The Ninth' rings true for the music scholar and historian as he combines new and archival footage and expert commentary to document the wide social influence of Beethoven's transcendent masterpiece."
