LeRoy C. Ernst longtime employee of Mack Trucks
LeRoy C. Ernst, 90, of Winter Springs, Fla., formerly of Allentown, died March 13, 2015, at home.
He was the husband of Verna Darby Ernst and the late Elaine N. (Peacock) Ernst.
Born in 1924 in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Frank and Edith (Miller) Ernst.
He honorably and faithfully served his country as a sergeant in the 129th Army Air Force Base Unit during World War II.
As a longtime employee of Mack Trucks, he was director of quality control, an ambassador and he ran the Mack Shop.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was affectionately known as "Wawa" to family and friends.
He always had a smile on his face, especially when he was hitting a hole-in-one on the golf course.
He brought joy and laughter to everyone around him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Marlene, wife of Robert Taylor, of Oviedo, Fla., Roxanne Long Torrence of Allentown, Connie, wife of Glenn Hertzog, of Palm Coast, Fla., Vickie Hertzog and fiancé Howard Williams of Trinity, N.C.; grandchildren Jason Long of Doyles-town, Rebecca Long of Hyattsville, Md.; Mindi Hertzog of Arlington, Va., Kristi Taylor, wife of Mark Wuchner, MD of San Diego, Calif., Erin Taylor, PhD. of Mountain View, Calif., Justin and Kristine Hertzog of Mims, Fla., Kara Hertzog of Virginia Beach, Va., Corey Hertzog of Breinigsville, great grandchildren; Logan, Colton, and Taylor Wuchner, Noah and Jace Vaughn Hertzog.
His services will be at 11 a.m. March 19, at Keller Funeral Homes Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Interment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
