The Bertsh-Hokendauqua-Catasauqua Watershed Association is opening eligibility for the second annual BHCWA scholarship to all college bound high school seniors within the boundaries of the watershed.

Students must complete an essay of at least 750 words and an application by April 15.

The essay topic of "what is a floodplain" must include definition of the 100-year floodplain and address the function of riparian buffers. The essay will be judged for content, topic development, grammar and spelling.

The scholarship award is a $500 cash prize.

The Bertsh-Hokendauqua-Catasauqua Watershed Association was founded in 2009.
