Car hits fence,

tree along I-78

Paul N. Azzu, 28, of Carlisle, was driving a 1999 BMW 5401 west in the left lane of I-78, Upper Macungie, at 12:07 a.m. March 2 when Azzu apparently lost control of the car, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.

The car traveled off the north berm of the road, struck a metal fence and shrubbery with its passenger side before striking a tree with its front.

Azzu and his passenger Ruth O. Acheampong, 28, of Carisle, were both wearing seat belts.

Acheampong was taken by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, police say.

Azzu, who was uninjured, was charged with driving at an unsafe speed.
