BASD: Future chefs compete March 25
Sodexo and the Bethlehem Area School District are hosting an future chef's culinary competition for students in grades one through five in March. The final coook-off will be held at 4:15 p.m. March 25 at Northeast MS.
The theme will be" Favorite Healthy After-School Snack". Recipes will be judged on health-conscious foods, simple, kid-friendly preparation, fun kid foods, judge's choice and best presentation.
Bethlehem area: Scholarship Winners named
Liberty HS's Liam McKenna, Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts' Albert Nelthropp and Bethlehem Catholic's Christopher Vasquez, all Class of 2015, have been named the recipients of the Lehigh Valley Music Awards 16 Youth Education Scholarships. The winners were chosen for their academic achievements, involvement in their high school music departments and the desire to pursue music in higher education
Vazquez has been a flute player for eight years and is a member of the Bethlehem Catholic High School concert, marching and jazz bands. Nelthropp is a voice student enrolled at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts. McKenna is a trumpet player in the Liberty High School Grenadier Band.
The awards ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. March 8 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way. Tickets are available at www.steelstacks.org or by calling 6710-332-3378.
