The bike rodeo sponsored by Coplay Town Watch, which has been held for more than two decades, is in jeopardy.

Tentatively set for Saturday, June 13, at the Coplay Parkway, the event will be canceled unless someone steps up to chair the event. Former chair Beverly Miller has stepped down.

Participating children on tricycles, big wheels and two-wheelers maneuver went through a figure eight while a bicycle police officer was present. New bike helmets are given to each rider and hot dogs and refreshments follow.

A little-known bonus is available to borough property owners who put out their refuse for pickup each week by borough sanitation personnel.

The public works department will pick up two large items such as a sofa or a dresser without an additional fee.

The annual trash collection fee also includes once-weekly pickup of garbage, a separate weekly pickup of recycled materials and seasonal leaf and grass pickup.
