The Allentown Symphony Association presents its 19th Annual Schadt String Competition, this year for violin, 2 p.m. March 8, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown.

The three finalists compete for the top prize, $8,000 and a Nov. 14, 15, solo concerto performance with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra.

The competition is free and open to the public with a reception to follow.
