Joseph R. Span, 19, of North Whitehall Township, died peacefully Feb. 12, 2015.
He was the son of Joel and Annette (Smith) Span with whom he resided.
A member and former deacon of The Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, and currently served as Assistant Scoutmaster.
He took second place in state finals in Skills-USA heavy equipment operations, and earned his CDL license at age 18.
He previously worked for S&G Asphalt.
An avid outdoorsman, he touched many lives, always putting others first.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Lenore Smith, of Whitehall; and paternal grandmother Irene Span of North Whitehall Township.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Joseph Span.
Services will be 11 a.m. Feb. 21, in The Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St. Catasauqua, with the Rev. P. Douglas Cronce officiating.
His family will receive guests starting at 9 a.m. in the church. Interment will be private.
