Elsie M. Gruber, 88, of Orefield, died Feb. 10, 2015, in Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown.

She and her husband George S. Gruber were married 69 years on Feb. 9.

Born in New Tripoli, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Schafer) Snyder.

A farmer in the New Tripoli area for more than 40 years, she loved gardening, baking and cooking for her family.

She enjoyed all the daily functions of operating a successful dairy farm.

Her survivors include sons Clarence G. and wife, Susan, of Allentown, Allen C. and wife, Ruth, of Slatington, Roy R. and wife, Linda, of Auburn, Dale R. and wife, Cheryl, and Marvin L. and wife, Karen, all of New Tripoli; daughter Shirley E., wife of Harry Sohon of Shoemakersville; brothers-in-law Ralph Gruber and Raymond Dengler; sisters-in-law Betty and Ruth Snyder; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Carolyn E. Bauscher, grandson Andrew G. Gruber, five brothers and three sisters.
