The borough public works department has been managing the supply of road salt it has on hand to keep Coplay's streets and alleys ice free, despite frequent winter storms.

With 50 tons now in the storage area, the department reports a large shipment is due to arrive shortly. Paul Boyle, public works supervisor, said hopefully the weather will break from its cycle of snow and ice, making it possible for the department to stay within its budget.

On average, road salt consumption on glazed streets runs between 130 and 140 tons annually.
