Police seek vehicle involved in crash

State Police Troop M Bethlehem say Jennifer E. Dietrich of Coplay was struck by a vehicle traveling north around 8:55 p.m. Jan. 20 as she was walked across the street in front of McDonalds, 5060 Route 873, North Whitehall Township.

According to police Feb. 3, a witness described the vehicle as having the name "Ehrlich" in white lettering on the driver's side door.

Police say Ehrlich has been cooperative in the investigation and confirmed this vehicle does not exist in their fleet.

The matching description is possibly due to Ehrlich selling retired vehicles at auction, police say.

On Jan. 23, police reported Dietrich was struck by a 1998-2000 blue Ford Ranger with white writing on the side, and a cap on the bed or truck bed storage cabinets.

The truck may also have orange and yellow horizontal stripes along the sides, and have damage to the front passenger bumper and headlight area, police say.

State police are seeking information regarding anyone who recently started driving a new work vehicle and/or stopped driving a vehicle of this description and may have recently called out sick or missed days of work immediately after this crash on Jan. 20.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from surrounding businesses and homes along the travel route of the involved vehicle in an attempt to identify the driver.

The driver is described as a 25- to 35-year-old white male, 6 feet tall, with medium build and dark hair.

According to police Dietrich remains in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Anyone with information about this hit and run is asked to call state police at 610-861-2026.
