Helen L. Plaksa, 83, of New Tripoli, formerly of Hazleton, died Feb. 5, 2015, in The Lutheran Home of Topton.

She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Plaksa.

Born Aug. 5, 1931, in West Hazleton, Luzerne County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Halcisak) Svabik.

She was formerly employed at Laneco, Trexlertown, for five years.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

Her survivors include a son Joseph F. and his wife, Mae, and Michael M. and his wife, April, all of New Tripoli; sister Mary Blanner of Hazleton; brother Adam Svabik of Spring Hills, Fla.; grandchildren Angela, Jason, Catherine and Ryan; and great-granddaughters Ava and Annika.

She was predeceased by siblings Joseph, John, Paul and Cathy Svabik, and Anna Bellas.
