At the Feb. 6 curriculum and technology committee meeting, the board reviewed the 2015-2016 proposed high school program of studies presented by Salisbury High School Principal Heather Morningstar.
Changes in the program of studies were discussed, primarily the addition of online courses which will be available in the 2015-2016 school year.
The document is on the agenda for final approval at the Feb. 11 school board meeting and will be available on the school website shortly thereafter for parents and guardians to review and discuss with students.
Board members also reviewed the 2015-2016 district calendar proposed by Superintendent Dr. Randy Ziegenfuss.
The high school marching band is asking for approval to participate in a two-day educational tour field trip to New York. The board briefly discussed the purpose of the trip which will be on the Feb. 11 agenda. Participants in the marching band will miss a day of school if approved.
In other business, in this abbreviated curriculum and technology meeting, the board members received a book containing greetings from the four principals who collected photos of activities and learning in the four schools. Compiled by Salisbury Middle School Principal Robert Cassidy, the photos show appreciation for what the board members do for the school community.
The next meeting of the curriculum and technology committee meeting has been changed to 7 p.m. March 4 at Western Salisbury Elementary School.
