Liberty swimmers, Aaron Dolgos, Nolan Vannata, Reid Rossi, and Jacob Jones led off the Hurricanes meet against Easton with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.43 last Tuesday when Liberty defeated the Red Rovers, 108.5-72.5 at Liberty.
Vannata said, "It was a good race. We were behind, but I got ahead of the kid next to me. They have very good backstrokers, but we seemed to make a comeback after that."
Vannata also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.28.
"I dropped about a half a second," he said. "I always try not to think about the competition because it's thrown me off in the past, so I try to think about my personal goal."
Other individual event winners for the Hurricanes were Jones in the 50 free with a time of 23.26, and Robert Negron in the 100 free with a time of 50.08.
Chase Ledger was a double event winner for Liberty, taking first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.29, and the 500 free with a time of 5:28.88.
Brandon Hlavaty, Negron, Jones, and Evan Smith combined to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.39.
This Thursday is the much anticipated rivalry meet when Liberty will welcome Freedom at 6:00 p.m.
Vannata said, "It's going to be tough, but if we swim 100% ... Our swimmers finish right next to each other. My freshman year, we had a chance, but they won. Last year, they beat us by a small amount. If we do our best, we could win."
