Student profile: Ryan Schmidt,Bethlehem Catholic HS

Grade: 12

Family members: I am the son of Monica and brother of Emily, Joey and Erin.

Favorite subject: The subject I enjoy most is math because I enjoy working with numbers and working on problems that make you think outside the box.

Activities: Throughout the school year, I play tennis and I am very involved in the Bethlehem Catholic Mini-THON.

Next steps: I intend to study economics at Penn State University.

Career goals: I would eventually like to start my own business.

Heroes: My heroes are the men and women who serve our country, allowing us to live in a safe and free society.

Hobbies: My hobbies include skiing, basketball and running.

Current job(s): I work at Saucon Valley Country Club as a bag room assistant and I also caddied.

Volunteer/community work: I completed community service work on a service trip last summer in Germantown.

Likes: Some things I like are: Penn State football, skiing out west and spending time with friends.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): One of the greatest accomplishments I have had was being selected by my peers to be the chair of Beca's 2015 Mini-THON. It is truly and honor, and a very rewarding feeling knowing I am making a difference in others' lives.

Advice for peers: The best advice I could give to my peers is to work hard in anything you are involved in because your future success is determined by the work you put in evbery day, whether it be athletics, academics or other clubs.
