with DUI

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Shawn Yarema, 46, of Allentown, was stopped for numerous alleged traffic violations 6:28 p.m. Dec. 26, 2014, at Cetronia and Grange roads, Upper Macungie Township.

Police allege Yarema was under the influence of alcohol and a search yielded brass knuckles in his possession.

Yarema was transported to Lehigh County Central Booking Center for a legal blood draw, police say.

Charges were filed for driving under the influence and having a prohibited offensive weapon.

Two arrested

on drug charges

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Jose E. Ortiz, 20, of Ridgewood, N.Y. was driving a 2004 Honda Accord westbound on I-78 at exit ramp 54A when the car struck a street sign 4:20 p.m. Jan. 28 in South Whitehall.

According to police, Ortiz apparently failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. His car traveled off the side of the road and down an embankment before hitting the street sign.

Following impact, the car came to rest, stuck in snow, police say.

Police allege Ortiz and his passenger Andre D. Brown, 20 of Ridgewood, N.Y., had one pound of marijuana and associated paraphernalia.

Ortiz was arrested for driving under the influence and multiple drug offenses, and transported to the Lehigh County Central Booking Center, where police say he consented to a blood draw.

Brown was also arrested for drug offenses and tranported to the Lehigh County Central Booking Center, say police.

According to police, both Ortiz and Brown were uninjured in the crash.

Ortiz was also charged with a traffic violation, police say.
