Widener University award honorees

Widener University's HS Leadership Awards included three local students who demonstrated courage and leadership within their communities. Students were selected for their abilities to stand up for what is right, address a wrong and make a difference in their communities or schools.

The area recipients of the award are Bryce Orloski of Bethlehem, a junior at Bethlehem Catholic HS, who dedicates his time to academics, athletics and service. As an Eagle Scout, he refurbished the "Path of Life" area at Deer Lake.

Breanna Schneebeli of Bethlehem, a junior at Freedom HS, is involved in The Miracle League, an organization that helps children with physical and mental disabilities participate in baseball.

Leticia Patino-Flores of Fountain Hill, a junior at Liberty HS, is dedicated to service work and volunteerism, and has completed more than 236 hours of community service at multiple organizations.

The winners were invited to a breakfast March 25 at the National Constitution Center and to a fall 2015 leadership conference at Widener University. If they enroll at Widener for undergraduate studies, the winners will receive a scholarship of $20,000 over four years.
