Pamela Susan Knappenberger
Pamela Susan Knappenberger, 63, of Slatington, died Jan. 26, 2015, at Woodland Terrace at the Oaks, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband, the Rev. James L. Knappenberger, were married 41 years last Nov. 24.
Born July 31, 1951, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Edwin E. and Annie M. (Wetherhold) Peters.
She was a librarian and media specialist at Raub Middle School, Allentown, for 12 years before retiring in 2009.
While at Raub, she volunteered to serve daily breakfast for the school free lunch program.
Prior to that, she was a self-employed vocal and piano teacher for more than 30 years and taught music in the Parkland School District elementary schools from 1973-77.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Trexlertown, formerly singing with the choir and playing with the bell choir.
She served as a soloist for weddings and funerals as well as holiday worship services.
A youth group leader, she also volunteered as a cook for the annual church work camp.
Her memberships and accomplishments include: former 4-H and Schnecksville Grange 1684 member, Girl Scout leader and co-organizer of the Girl Scout Day Camp at Union Church, Neffs.
She also served as a youth volunteer for the Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ for many years, served as Youth Leader and Vacation Bible School teacher at St. Paul's UCC, Indianland, Good Shepherd UCC, Slatedale, and St. Paul's UCC, Trexlertown.
In addition, she was director of music at St. Paul's UCC, Indianland, for two years and Good Shepherd UCC, Slatedale, for several years.
She acted, sang and occasionally served as music director for shows at the Mauch Chunk Opera House and the Pennsylvania Playhouse, Bethlehem, sang with the Schnecksville Choraleers, was a lifelong performing member of the Allentown Music Club, and was a soloist with the Allentown Band under the direction of Burt Meyers.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by children, Rebecca Amy and her fiancé David A. Orth of Slatington, and the Rev. Joshua D. Knappenberger and wife, Angela, of Strausstown.
