Northampton Community College

Obesity film set for Feb. 11

Northampton Community College will sponsor a free, open to the public screening of "Fed Up" at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas, 101 Founders Way. The film is a 2014 documentary that focuses on the causes of obesity in the U.S.

Following the movie, there will be a panel discussion with Eric J. Ruth and Meagan L. Grega, M.D., Kellyn Foundation; Jon Soden, Bethlehem Food Co-op; Lynn Trizna, Rodale Farm project manager, St. Luke's University Health Network; and Kelly Allen, associate professor of English at NCC.

Northampton Community College's Center for Business & Industry is offering American Heart Association Heartsaver classes at 8 a.m. to noon (CPR AED) and 1 to 5 p.m. (First Aid) Feb. 12 at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.

Campus tours set

The Bethlehem campus will hold tours at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 19, 11:30 a.m. March 3, 3:30 p.m. March 19, 11:30 a.m. April 7 and 3:30 p.m. April 16. Tours begin at the admissions office and last about two hours.he Green Pond and Fowler campus tours.

Fowler campus tour are set for 11:30 a.m. March 12 and April 14. The facilities at this location are dental hygiene, hotel and restaurany management and medical assistant programs. Tours depart from the lobby.

Photography exhibit through Feb. 20

Northampton Community College is celebrating Black History Month and honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The "Selma-to-Montgomery" photography exhibit, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Selma and Montgomery, Ala., civil rights marches, runs through Feb. 20, in the Laub Lounge, second floor, College Center, main campus.

Moravian College

Artist-in-residence awarded honor

Australian composer, conductor and master orchestrator Sean O'Boyle, artist-in-residence at Moravian College, has been awarded the Member of the Order of Australia, AM. The Order of Australia is the pre-eminent way Australians recognize the achievements and service of their fellow citizens.

O'Boyle, who has an interest in the music of indigenous Australians, has conducted in the Sydney Opera House, Avery Fischer Hall (New York City), Queens Hall (London) and Roy Thompson Hall (Toronto).
