Salisbury Middle School clothing drive continues
Go through your closets and dresser drawers.
The Salisbury Middle School Interact Club is holding a clothing drive. The school receives a donation based on how many pounds of clothes/ items collected. Items accepted include clothes, belts, scarves, baby accessories, sheets, blankets, toys and more. Books and VCR tapes are not accepted.
For a complete list of acceptable items, visit the school website.
For any questions, contact Matthew Tobias at mtobias@stsd.org.
After you're finished collecting all the gently used clothes you no longer need, put the items in garbage bags (yes, I said bags, as in more than one) and place the bags in the school lobby outside of the front office no later than Feb. 8.
I have been meaning to go through some clothes my boys have outgrown; hopefully this is the motivation I need to get moving.
Due to the snow day Jan. 12, all Salisbury Township schools will be in session Feb. 13. This was originally a day off for President's Day. Schools will be closed Feb. 16 to commemorate the birthdays of two of our country's greatest presidents. No word yet on making up the Jan. 26 snow day.
All parents/guardians of third grade students at Western Salisbury Elementary School are invited to eat lunch with their student Feb. 10. This is always a fun event.
WSE's PTA is kicking off the Gertrude Hawk fundraiser soon. The sale starts Feb. 12 and runs through Feb. 26.
The next PTA meeting will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19 with a Chinese dinner and a chance to meet our new school superintendent, Randy Ziegenfuss.
There are numerous district meetings in the next two weeks.
There is a curriculum committee meeting 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5, followed by an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road.
A school board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 in the administration building.
I would like to take this time to send congratulations to Salisbury High School junior Lindsay Bauer for being named the lehighvalleylive girls basketball player of the week. She topped her own scoring record twice in one week when she scored 18 points against Northern Lehigh and then 22 points against Saucon Valley in a nail biting double-overtime victory. Great job, Lindsay!
Congrats to both the girls and boys SHS basketball teams for the fantastic seasons they are having.
Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host the monthly breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 14. A donation is suggested and all proceeds benefit the 275th anniversary celebration.
