Stephen R. Nemes Sr., 89, of Allentown, died Jan. 18, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He and his wife Dorothy F. (Lewis) Nemes were married 61 years last Oct. 17.
Born Feb. 14, 1925, in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late Stephen J. and Mary E. (Fistner) Nemes.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War era.
He was a field engineer and manager at IBM for 33 years before retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children, Stephen R. Jr. and his wife, Linda, of New Tripoli, Richard J. of Yelm, Wash., Mary A. Nemes of Bethlehem, Michael T. and his fiancée Joanne Haldaman of Allentown; grandchildren Thomas, Scott, Jennifer; five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Jan. 23, at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield, with the Rev. Joseph J. Kweder as celebrant.
Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church.
Private interment will follow the Mass at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
