Martin to seek re-election

'District Attorney James B. Martin announced recently he will run for re-election for the Office of District Attorney of Lehigh County this year. He will seek the nomination of the Republican Party at the primary election in May. Martin has been District Attorney of Lehigh County since January 1998 when he was appointed by the Lehigh County Commissioners to succeed Judge Robert L. Steinberg. He was elected to three four-year terms since then, and has passed the late George J. Joseph as the longest serving district attorney in the county's history.

Shelton in archery competition

Laura Bennett Shelton of Bethlehem will compete from Jan. 23 through 25 in the third stage of the open entry international Indoor Archery World Cup in Nimes, France. She began archery in late 2013 and is now currently ranked 11th in the 2015 I AWC series.

The fourth stage and world cup final will be held Feb. 6 and 7 in Las Vegas, Nev.

She trains with Level 4 Olympic coach Mike Usherenko at the New Jersey School of Archery in Florham Park, N. J., and with sports psychologist Dr. Jarrod Spencer of Bethlehem.

She received her undergraduate training at the University of Houston, and earned a graduate degree from Columbia University. She was a Project Runway television program finalist in 2006, and her designs were licensed and sold by QVC. She is author of two books, Didn't I Feed You Yesterday?: A Mother's Guide to Sanity in Stilettos and Handmade Chic: Fashionable Projects That Look High-End, Not Homespun. She has six children with her late husband Peter L. Shelton
