William A. Gibson, 96, of Allentown died Jan. 3, 2015, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William A. and Huldah (Lippert) Gibson Sr.
He and his wife Doris E. (Wagner) Gibson celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last June.
A cost accountant for Bradley Pulverizer for more than 30 years, before retiring, he then worked part time at a dry cleaner.
He was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church, South Whitehall.
He attended Allentown Prep School and Valley Forge Military Academy.
An airplane spotter at Queen City Airport as part of the Civil Defense Program, he volunteered for the United Way and at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for 30 years in the emergency room.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Thomas D., daughter Mariellen Gibson-Butler, wife of Kenneth Butler of Doylestown; and grandchildren Alex, Abigail and Michael Butler.
His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall.
