Mary E. Riley, Lehigh University libraian

Mary E. Riley, of Bethlehem, died Jan. 9, 2015, at Alexandria Manor, Bethlehem after a long illness. Born in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Ella (Busse) Gruber. She was the wife of the late James W. Riley Sr.

She was a 1948 graduate of Muncy High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1952 from Penn State University and a master's degree in 1953 from Drexel University library school.

She was employed at Lehigh University libraries for 40 years until, as head of document delivery, she retired in 1993.

She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, Bethlehem.

She was a member of New Temple Chapter 298, Order of Eastern Star, Allentown Shrine #27; and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

She is survived by three step sons, James W. Riley Jr, of Minisink, Thomas R. Riley of New York and Sean T. Riley of Bath; five grandchildren, Melanie and her husband Joseph Gonzales of Calif., Thomas J. Riley of Bath, Autumn Riley of Reading, Samantha Riley of Bath, and Charles Robinson of Roseto.
