An 18-year-old man allegedly assaulted another man around 8:25 p.m. Jan. 5 in the Crest Plaza Shopping Center parking lot, 1500 N. Cedar Crest Blvd, South Whitehall.
In an affidavit of probable cause obtained from the office of District Judge Donna Butler, Emmaus, South Whitehall Township Police Officer Jerome H. Cramer states Zefron Davis, address unknown, was charged with criminal attempt at robbery, theft and simple assault.
After Davis was read his rights, he allegedly told Cramer he was angry, and when he saw the man in the parking lot, Davis decided to beat him to relieve some stress.
According to the affidavit, Davis approached the man, who was walking to his truck after purchasing two bottles of wine at the state store.
The man stated as he was putting his key into the driver's side door to unlock his truck, Davis allegedly grabbed him from behind, put his right arm around his neck and demanded money.

As the man fought back, he fell to the ground and Davis fled the scene, heading through the parking lot toward Cedar Crest Boulevard in the direction of Tilghman Street.
A video showing the incident was obtained from Weis Market and a photograph and information was provided to area law enforcement agencies.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 10, Davis was stopped for an unrelated incident by Allentown police. He was later taken to South Whitehall police headquarters.
According to Lehigh County court records, Davis was arrested and arraigned before Judge Butler on Jan. 11.
