UPPER MILFORD TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS

Upper Milford Township Supervisors have appointed Timothy Haas, of Hereford Township, as the township's assistant manager.

He will be paid $52,000 per year. Haas had been working in local government in Limerick Township.

Supervisors created the new position last year after the departure of Public Works Supervisor Steve Ackerman.

In addition to public works duties, Haas will have more office responsibilities, allowing Township Manager Daniel DeLong to spend more time in the field.

In other action at the Dec. 30, 2014, meeting, supervisors adopted a budget for 2015 which includes no tax increase. There were no changes from the tentative budget presented to the board in November 2014.

The $2.5 million budget includes $125,000 for repairs to the Yeakels Mill Road bridge, a $26,701 contribution to each of the township fire companies and $38,803 for membership in the Emmaus Library, a 2 percent increase from 2014.

The budget also includes a $2,000 donation to Lehigh County Meals on Wheels and a $5,000 subsidy for the Upper Milford Youth Association sports programs.

Projected revenues include $1.399 million from local taxes, including $1.26 million in earned income taxes and $135,000 in real estate transfer taxes.

Timothy Haas was introduced to supervisors at their Jan. 5 reorganization meeting. Also at that meeting, George DeVault was elected supervisors chairman. All other current appointments were renewed. Supervisors also said farewell to sewer enforcement office Guy Bieber, who is retiring, and thanked him for his service.
