LHS girls beat Nazareth

Liberty High School's girls swim team defeated Nazareth, 105.5-80.5, and Pocono Mountain East, 114-54, both last week.

The Hurricane girls opened both meets with a victory in the 200 medley relay, although in the meet against Nazareth, the Blue Eagles clinched first place in the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.

Individual event winners for Liberty versus Nazareth were Chloe Kobus in the 200 IM in 2:22.26, Jocelyn Baker in the 500 free in 5:29.38, and Jessica Becker in the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.16.

Kobus said, "I usually try my hardest in the fly and the back, and then I try to get ahead in the breaststroke because that's my best. Jocelyn [was challenging]. I didn't actually see her, but I knew she would be close."

Baker came in second in the 200 IM in 2:23.27.

"It feels good to win. It's like, you're done. The pressure is off," said Kobus.

Individual event winners for Liberty versus Pocono Mountain East were Julia McCarthy in the 200 IM in 2:17.86, Baker in the 100 free in 57.60, and Becker in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.28.
